This research focused on identifying ways to use hemp-based building materials, such as Hempcrete, Hempwood, and hemp insulation, as alternatives to standard residential construction prototypes in the Virginia area (wood-frame and vinyl construction and red-brick masonry). While regulations and limited hemp cultivation still pose obstacles to adoption, this research aims to start the conversation about using hemp-based products in the Virginia area and to highlight the many possibilities of hemp as a building material.
